01:19 pm - on triple ois!
So Myron Cope announced he was retiring today. Watching Steeler games will never be the same.

Seriously, I think that my enjoyment of the game will be seriously adversely affected by not being able to listen to Myron and Tunch argue for 45 minutes about what color the Bengal's (Bungle's?) uniforms are. Or listening to them Cope trying to remember a story about an off conversation he had postgame with player who died 20 years ago. It just won't be the same. If nothing else, I won't have anything to distract me from listening to Hillgrove miscall the action.

Anyway, thanx for the memories Cope.

Hmmm... I wonder if this means Wolfley will be in the booth.

myron cope is a crazy ass old man. if he didnt have that gig, he'd have been locked away in some sort of institutional home many years ago. i like myron... a lot. but he needs care more than he needs endorsement deals.

yeah... but doesn't it give you hope that when you're a crazy 187 year old man that you too might still be gainfully employed?

yes it does.

It's sad to see a legacy like that have to come to an end, but I admire him for admiting that he was retiring because someone let him know that he wasn't at the top of his game anymore.

yeah... well I wonder. I mean, he's known for a while that he was getting old and it was affecting his work. I wonder if his health problems aren't more serious than he's letting on.

When I first moved to Pittsburgh and started following the Steelers, I wanted to jump through my radio and throttle "that little freak with the wierdass voice". Now I can't imagine a Stillers game widdaht 'im. Yunz'll be missed, Marn.

yeah. I can see how he might get to people at first, but then I am amazed that there are people out there who don't like him after they get used to him. Not many, but they're there.

Games are totally not going to be the same.

I thought Myron Cope kicked ass, and I don't even like football!

what is this "oi" of which you speak? surely you mean "oy"?
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: June 22nd, 2005 - 07:56 am (Link)
is there an official spelling? I had originally spelled it with a y, but I didn't look how oys looked on my screen as much as I liked ois.

Hey, who's the one who spends his Saturday evenings rolling entangled with a bunch of sweaty dudes?

I'm just sayin'....
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: June 22nd, 2005 - 08:11 am (Link)

you so should have just plead out to like 2 counts of "Wussiness III" and a single count of "I'm a Bitch II"

Rolling around... with sweaty guys... ON FILM.

I say that MAV is the one guilty of crimes against masculinity, not me!
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: June 22nd, 2005 - 08:26 am (Link)
you want to talk about crimes against masculinity? dude... only one of us ever had a jeri curl.
[User Picture]From: jameel Date: June 22nd, 2005 - 08:28 am (Link)
1) It was an S-curl.
2) You have a conk, and you didn't even get it by whoopin' someone's ass like Big Red.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: June 22nd, 2005 - 08:32 am (Link)
actually, every time I beat someone's ass my conk does fall all out just like big red's. But you wouldn't know about that, cuz you're all busy being a bitch and hanging out a window like Tony Bird.

Now as I was saying, my office hours are from nine to five.
[User Picture]From: jameel Date: June 22nd, 2005 - 08:34 am (Link)
Well played, Mav. Well played.
