10:25 am - on midterm elections...

I don't want you to change who you're voting to if you support someone. But if you go to vote and you see someone is running unopposed, remember, that you have another option. Me! I am running for all offices where there is otherwise only one candidate. Actually, I'm running for all offices. If you want to make me a senator or governor or something, I'm all for that as well. And I promise to serve a full term in any office that I might win. But what I'm really going for here is 36th District Representative in the General Assembly for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (and any similar office to that). And I would appreciate your support at the polls.

Vote Early. Vote Often. Vote Maverick!

A pro-wrestler in politics? What madness is this?

Even aside from Ventura, I have long been for that. Note this post from 3 years ago.

out of curiousity

Just how serious are you about this write in thing?

Re: out of curiousity

well, I wrote myself in. I'm not sure what you mean by the question.

Re: out of curiousity

The thing is, with positions like that you actually do stand the chance of ending up in office with maybe a couple dozen votes.

I guess the question is do you really want to be in office or is this a way of making a statement about the system, and if so, what statment is it?

Or is it strictly a joke (which is also a statement), in which case what would you do if you did end up as some minor official?

Re: out of curiousity

oh... I see what you mean. No, not a joke. I'd totally love to actually be elected to be a city councilman, or a member of the state general assembly or something like that. I've actually considered going for city office before, believe it or not, but I actually COULDN'T win, even with a couple dozen votes. This area has enough voters who simply check the "vote for all democrats" button that whoever is running for that office (in this case, Harry Bradshaw) would almost certainly beat me even if the people voting for him had no idea who he was.

I suppose I could join the Democrats and try to get the unopposed nomination, but that's specifically what I am opposing int he first place, and that'd kind of be a compromising of principal.

I voted Maverick

There were two judicial races that WERE contested, so I didn't know who to vote for. (Judges around here are nonpartisan so you can't even vote along party lines.) I voted Chris Maverick for both.

Re: I voted Maverick

Cool... Let me know how I do.

When can we expect the "Don't Blame Me, I voted for Maverick" bumper-stickers?
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 7th, 2006 - 08:46 pm (Link)
well, that depends... are you voting for me?
[User Picture]From: max1975 Date: November 7th, 2006 - 11:00 pm (Link)
Of course. I can't remember for what. State assembleyman or something.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 12:18 am (Link)
ooh! 36th Ward General Assembly Seat? Running against Harry Readshaw? If so, then I got two votes since I voted for myself there too.
[User Picture]From: max1975 Date: November 8th, 2006 - 12:53 am (Link)
Don't remember the district, or the dude's name. But we're both in the 36th Ward, whatever that is, then that's what i voted for.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 12:59 am (Link)
oh hell yeah! I'm on my way!
[User Picture]From: max1975 Date: November 8th, 2006 - 02:02 am (Link)
I hope you'll remember your promise. If you end up winning, I don't want to look at the paper in a couple months and find out that Kayleigh has a desk.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 02:13 am (Link)
for the sake of freedom, Kayleigh will remain deskless. Unlike my opponent, I am willing to do whatever it takes. If it means keeping this country safe, I'll even take away her chair.

At least three, actually.

As many as 169 by this information. Probably not, though- this seems a popular type of position to write-in for.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 04:05 pm (Link)
it looks like it sawy 175 to me. Though I think Max actually is in another district. But again, i thank you for your support.

Had I checked LJ earlier, I would have voted for you for NY State Comptroller. I assume you'll be running again next year?
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 12:20 am (Link)
Yeah, I run for all unopposed offices every year. So if there's no one running against him, then I am. And should I win something, I'm willing to move wherever. I am a complete an total carpetbagger.
[User Picture]From: marmal8 Date: November 8th, 2006 - 12:27 am (Link)
Well, the incumbent just got in a scandal and the other guy I never heard of. That's almost like not having an opponent.

Also, we'll need a new mayor soon.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 12:58 am (Link)
oh... that's right... Stern was actually talking about that yesterday
[User Picture]From: mokatz Date: November 8th, 2006 - 04:48 am (Link)
I wrote you in for the 25th district GA seat. I would have written you in for PA14 House seat, but Titus North (G) was on the ballot. More than that, he was actually there at my polling place and asked for my vote. Also, he teaches karate at the dojo down the street, so if he did win, I could say "My Congressman can kick your Congressman's ass." Though I suppose since you are a wrestler, the same could be said of you.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: November 8th, 2006 - 04:07 pm (Link)
wow... I should try that next year... go from polling place to polling place threatening to kick the asses of anyone who doesn't vote for me... wonder if there's a law against that.
