the year was 1984... and all the kids were into a new dance craze. Not dirty dancing, OH NO! That would not happen for three more years. And the Lambada, not for three years after that. No, it was 1984, and the kids were break dancing, and on May 4th, a movie was released about it. Breakin' was a run away success and would gross more than 36 million dollars at the box office. It would be so successful that a sequel was immediately commissioned and on December 21st, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo hit the theaters. Sadly, in those 7 months the market was totally saturated with breakdancing movies, and it would be 20 long years before the world would be ready for another breakdancing movie.

But that time is now...

What's sadder, that I'm excited about this? Or that as much as I hated Underworld, I'm still sorta kinda excited about the prospect of seeing Van Helsing?

Oh well, there's still Havanna Nights.

Current Mood: [mood icon] excited

Someone on one of the movie sites I visit referred to this movie as "Vampire Hunter H". It does look awfully anime influenced. Not really a turnoff for me, but the music in the trailer is so distractingly awful I can't decide if I want to see it.

yeah, maybe that's why i want to see it. I dunno. Maybe it will pass. I dunno. I did like Vampire Hunter D. Who knows how good or awful its gonna be. I think I'm just prejudiced against it because its a vampire movie staring Kate Beckinsale.

As for the trailer music. Its always hard to say. A lot of times trailer music is just stock because the actual score for the movie hasn't been completed yet.

Then again, maybe the whole thing will suck.

Didn't I see "You Got Served" with chicks? Wasn't it called "Bring It On"?

Also, Havana Nights sets off all my incredibly girlie "Oooh! Aieeee! Eeep!" vibes.

No, no, no... that was a cheerleading movie. Totally different. This is a breakdancing movie.

Also, Havana Nights sets off all my incredibly girlie "Oooh! Aieeee! Eeep!" vibes.

In a good way or a a bad way?

Good because I want to see it.
Bad because I don't think Jeff'll go with me.

:)

oh, I'll totally go see it with you. Steph doesn't want to see it either...

Well, actually, after watching the trailer, I might be willing to see it. It reminded me of Strictly Ballroom, a *much* better movie than Dirty Dancing with a *much* hotter male lead [insert drool here].

Chalk me up as one of those uber-conservative boys who stared out the window at night, wishing he could breakdance like the wind.

Any movie about b-boyin' is worth a view, regardless of its potential for bad or good.

I am alllll about that Van Helsing movie.

While watching the You Got Served trailer I realized it had the same basic plotline as about 90% of kung fu movies, too. Only instead of, say, a shaolin temple versus a karate temple they've got some breakdancing schools. Somebody needs to go all the way and combine these two genres and make a breakdancing movie with Jet Li and DMX.
