The lovely jetgrrl01 posted this and seemed to be kind of freaked out by it. Honestly, I suppose that's pretty understandable. Sticking things in your eye is kinda weird and scary. On the other hand, this is also kinda cool. And with cosmetic eye implants in place, can completely cybernetic eyes be far behind?

Save up those Essence points, jameel its just about time to chop off the old meat arms. Me, I'll be getting Move-By-Wire, highest level, because really... fuck it...

I would just like to say, eew. I picture it as feeling like an eyelash in your eye that never goes away, and I gave that up when I got back into glasses...

Yeah... it just looks so damned uncomfortable. *twitch*

see, to me, it doesn't look uncomfortable... its the act of getting it done in the first place that kinda creeps me out.

well, I kind of expect (or at least hope) that you can't actually feel it once its in there. I dunno that I'd ever actually do it, but its certainly interesting.

Hey, I met the world's first rigger last year. Prof. Kevin Warwick, University of Reading, Department of Cybernetics. Here's his website. Check out "Project Cyborg 2.0" to see what I mean about the rigger thing.

I sent him a resume last year - you never know...

that's pretty cool. I was never so into the riggers though... dunno why. If I'm gonna chop off body parts and insert cybernetics, I just feel like I want to be able to do something cooler than "drive"

Well, yeah... but his work is definitely a step - no, a gigantic leap - in the right direction. The whole point of his research is using cybernetics to enhance a normal person, not to fix what's wrong with someone. That's quite a change from standard biomedical research.

oh yeah... its definitely a step in the right direction... but it just reminds me that we're still quite a ways off... and when 2053 does roll around, I dunno that I am gonna in good enough shape to be having blazing gun battles at the Stuffer shack... ya know?

Gah! Keep them away from my fucking eyes!

you will be assimilated...

That would be sooo distracting.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: April 8th, 2004 - 02:09 pm (Link)
for you to have in your eye? or to see someone else with it in theirs?
[User Picture]From: drfell Date: April 8th, 2004 - 06:46 pm (Link)
Originally I was thinking for someone else to have in theirs... but now that I think about it, both.
[User Picture]From: chrismaverick Date: April 8th, 2004 - 10:47 pm (Link)
well... it would certainly be kinda distracting but I think it might be so in a good way. I mean, it's probably initially shocking... but once everyone starts wearing them, the EWWW factor shoud diminish, right? I remember when it was pretty freaky for someone to have a nose ring...
[User Picture]From: jameel Date: April 9th, 2004 - 08:46 am (Link)
Yep yep.
[User Picture]From: katieboyd Date: April 9th, 2004 - 12:03 pm (Link)
That's awesome. I would so get one if I happened to be stupidly independently wealthy.

finally... there's someone who thinks its cool... I totally think you should get them at some point just cuz I want to see someone with them. It might be sexy...
