LIES!

The night before I had spoken to her online at like 11pm and was wondering why the hell a person would be at home sitting around talking to people online at 11pm, an hour before she turns 21. It made no sense. So I ordered her to go out and find a bar that she could order a drink at at promptly midnight. I'm told she had a white russian.

LIES!

What do you think this is, Wikipedia?

The night before, at 11PM, I was with her and we were changing clothes from a very active weekend to go out for said drinks. (and yes, she did have a White Russian)

I think there are holidays that always generate disappointment because society places high expectations on them. NYE is a big one in that regard, or the winter holiday season in general (most suicides I understand). Birthdays aren't really all that different, "landmark" birthdays moreso. How people choose to mark those birthdays and how big a deal is made of them makes all the difference.

Also, birthdays are the days that we give ourselves excuses/permission/whatever to show extra appreciation for people who matter to us. In that sense all birthdays are good birthdays. Contrary to that, people might notice who doesn't call and place more important on that than on who does in fact make the effort or care or whatever.

I like the idea of birthdays being a celebration of a specific person. I enjoy it when it's about me of course, but I also enjoy spoiling specific other people (there was much spoiling of [Unknown LJ tag] over the past few days).

Another landmark birthday might be surpassing your parents' age. And of course birthdays marked by events.

Should be obvious but...

Substitute the Unknown LJ Tag with marsinthestars.

Re: Should be obvious but...

What journalistic integrity are you referring to?

I know about the press under Mao.

You are a tool of the regime.

Re: Should be obvious but...

The technical defects of your journal have no bearing on Marli's name.

Your Maoist plots are transparent.

Re: Should be obvious but...

bah, you are just trying to cover things up and deflect the blame. It's just like you gaijin westerners to try and pass the buck.

Are you trying to deny my absolute power over the mind through the medium of instant messenger? You only believe that you were already planning to go out because I want you to believe that.

Next time keep her in the fridge
