10:05 am - Not quite spam
So I got mail that I at first thought was spam from these people. Something told me I should read it though so I did. Actually what they want is permission to republish (and link to) my flirting essay. Hmmm... now part of me simply acknowledges that if I put something out on the internet, people are going to try and steal it. But when someone actually asks for permission the rules change. So do people think I should give them permission or not?

Like I was saying in real time, the question is what you can get out of it. It is a writing credit, but it doesn't look like money. If it's exposure you can use to eventually get a writing gig that will be money, then it's a good thing. If you think they will steal it anyway and this way you can at least get credit, that's another issue.

You should find a way to get your essays collected in a public format. I really think there could be a market for them out there.

linking to your essay

wow mav, let them link to it, for if nothing else, more people need good, friendly sense distributed in an entertaining way. i just read your essay and i thought it true, beautiful and funny all at once.

if nothing else, you mention your name a few times throughout, so people will become more familiar with it. yay! good marketing. ;)
